J5 Body lifted off Luv Chassis

Family visits, weddings, reunions, and boy-scout fishing trips have all conspired over the last month to keep the J5 body on the Luv chassis. I really needed help to get the body off the chassis, but my brother decided to be "good dad" and take his family to Marine World or Great America for the day. So, I was on my own.

I figured the body wouldn't be -that- much heavier than the X300GT body, even with the extra layers of fiberglass and resin added in the past. Wrong. It was about twice as heavy, too heavy for me to lift safely by myself. I grabbed the chain hoist, a motorcycle tie-down, and hooked up the hoist to the front of the car.

Up went the front of the body, easy as pie. I checked for binding and snagging but everything lifted off clean.

After knocking out one last, hidden, bolt on the back end, I lifted the rest of the body off the chasis and swung it around.

I unhooked the front, set it down on the driveway...

...and realized the only way I was going to get the body on the dolly was to hoist the front end back up, and slide it under. Note awesome "Fanglers" tee-shirt.

I rolled the Luv chassis out of the way, hoisted the front end back up, and, after a bit of a wrestling match, slid the dolly into the body's frame recess. Shot with the cover back on (time for dinner).
